Job Description

Residential Practitioner - Children & Young People
Location: TS6 - Middlesborough
Salary: £12.24 - £12.87 per hour + Double Pay on Bank Holidays + 252 Hours Annual Leave
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (8am-8pm or 8pm-8am waking nights) on a 2 weeks rolling rota - Week 1 (Mon,Tue,Sat,Sun) and Week 2 (Wed,Thu,Fri)
Employment Type: Full-time - 40h


Our client is seeking dedicated Residential Practitioners to join their team, providing care and support for children and young people (aged 15-16) in a 5-bed residential service. The young people in the service may have experienced EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties), trauma, self-harm, and substance misuse.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
  • Work in partnership with families, social workers, and other professionals.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
  • Act as a key worker and provide emotional and practical support.
  • Encourage engagement in education, personal development, and community activities.
  • Assist in daily household tasks and maintain a comfortable, safe home environment.
  • Promote independence while providing personal care when necessary.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to service development.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in a residential setting, particularly those with EBD and complex needs.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, nights, and bank holidays.
