Job Description

Position: Residential Practitioner
Sector: Residential Services for Children and Young People
Location: Darlington - DL3
Salary: £25,469
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Shift Pattern: 8 AM - 8 PM on a rolling rota; includes day and night shifts, maximum of 4 days a week with weekends one on and one off.

Our client specialises in providing residential step-down services and specialist education for children and young people with complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and mental health issues. They also support children who have experienced trauma or attachment-related challenges. With over 20 years of experience and homes across the UK, they are dedicated to a creative and nurturing approach that focuses on individualised support tailored to each child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Support: Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people in a residential setting.
  • Implementation of Care Plans: Assist in the implementation of personalised care plans designed to meet individual needs.
  • Engagement: Build trusting relationships with children and young people, promoting their emotional well-being and personal development.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Reporting: Document observations and progress, contributing to regular reviews of care plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in a social care or educational setting is essential.
  • Approach: Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and mental health awareness.
  • License: Valid driving license preferred but not mandatory.
  • Resilience: Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
